Kick Accounting Pricing and Kick Bookkeeping Alternatives for Teams That Keep QuickBooks or Xero

Kick calls itself an agentic ledger, and that word matters more than any price on its page. It is not an add-on for QuickBooks or Xero. You connect your bank through Plaid, or Stripe, PayPal, Mercury, Ramp, Gusto and BILL directly, and Kick keeps the books itself: real-time categorization with rules and suggested rules, receipt and document matching, a cash or accrual ledger, journal entries, classes, invoicing with card and ACH payments, AR matching, payroll splits from Gusto, a monthly close task list, bank and card reconciliation, and a year-end tax package for your CPA. One of the testimonials on its homepage says it plainly: the customer was able to immediately replace QBO. So the first question is whether your books are moving. The pricing itself is published and easy to read. Free covers one entity and 250 transactions a year, which a working business outgrows in weeks, and reconciliation is not in it. Basic is $40 a month, billed as $480 for the year. Plus is $100 a month billed $300 a quarter and adds unlimited entities, classes, AR and AP automation and the accrual ledger, with each new entity free for its first 250 transactions a year and then $50 a month. Advanced is $300 a month, billed monthly, for consolidation, ownership mapping, eliminations and dedicated onboarding, and it is the one plan that opens with Book a call. Firms get separate per-client pricing of $20, $50 and $150. If you are a founder or a small firm happy to move your books onto a newer ledger, Kick is a fair price for what it does. If QuickBooks Online, Xero or NetSuite is staying, because your CPA, your payroll or your lender expects it, Reconciler is the narrower tool. It connects the ledger read-only, matches bank, card and payout lines against it and explains every pair.

Honest fit

Which one you should actually pick

Pick Kick when

Kick is the better buy for a founder, a sole prop or a small group of companies that is happy to leave QuickBooks or Xero for a newer ledger: categorization, receipts, invoicing, Gusto payroll splits and a tax package in one place, at a published price from $40 a month. It also suits a small bookkeeping firm that wants per-client pricing from $20.

Pick Reconciler when

Reconciler is the better buy when the ledger is staying. You keep QuickBooks Online, Xero or NetSuite, and the CPA and payroll setup that depend on it, and you need bank, card and Stripe, PayPal or Square payouts proven against the books every month. It connects read-only, explains every match, flags every exception and costs $89 a month billed yearly with the ledger connected.

Questions people ask

Kick alternatives, answered

How much does Kick accounting cost?

Kick publishes four plans. Checked on October 8, 2026: Free is $0 for one entity and 250 categorized transactions a year, Basic is $40 a month billed annually ($480 a year), Plus is $100 a month billed quarterly ($300), and Advanced is $300 a month billed monthly. Extra entities on Plus and Advanced are free for their first 250 transactions a year, then $50 a month each.

Is Kick bookkeeping free?

Only up to a point. The Free plan covers one entity and 250 categorized transactions a year, and it does not include reconciliation or statement sync, which start on Basic at $40 a month billed annually. A business with a few hundred card and bank transactions a month passes the free limit in its first few weeks.

Does Kick do bank reconciliation?

Yes, from the Basic plan. Kick lists assisted transaction-level reconciliation of bank and credit card activity, statement sync from supported institutions, and payment reconciliation that books Stripe and PayPal payouts as splits with their fees. It reconciles inside Kick's own ledger, so your books have to live in Kick for it to apply.

Can Kick replace QuickBooks?

Yes, that is how it is built. Kick keeps its own general ledger, chart of accounts, journal entries, P&L, balance sheet and trial balance, and offers a migration tool to move off your current software. The pages we read describe moving off QuickBooks rather than syncing into it, so choosing Kick means moving the books.

What are the best Kick alternatives?

If you want a new AI ledger, buyers compare Kick with Digits, Puzzle and QuickBooks Online itself. If you want to keep QuickBooks Online or Xero, an AI layer such as Booke AI handles categorization inside them, and reconciliation software such as Reconciler proves that bank, card and payout activity agrees with the books.

How much does Kick cost for accountants?

Kick's accountant plan guide prices per client: Free at $0, Basic at $20, Plus at $50 and Advanced at $150 a month, with unlimited business entities inside a Plus or Advanced client workspace. Firms that want training, priority support and lead generation can apply to the Kick Accountant AI Program, which is priced on request.

Does Kick work with Stripe and PayPal?

Yes. Kick connects directly to Stripe and PayPal and syncs payments, customers, fees and payouts, recording payment transactions as splits so revenue and fees land in the right accounts. It also connects Mercury, Ramp, Gusto and BILL directly and reaches other banks and cards through Plaid.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Kick?

For a full ledger, Kick's $40 Basic plan is already among the cheaper AI options that publish a price. If you only need reconciliation on the ledger you already have, Reconciler starts at $29 a month billed yearly for a bank and one processor, and costs $89 a month billed yearly with QuickBooks Online, Xero or NetSuite connected.

Do I need Kick or Reconciler?

Ask whether your books are moving. If you are ready to leave QuickBooks or Xero for an AI ledger that categorizes, invoices and closes in one place, Kick is built for that. If you are keeping your ledger and need proof every month that bank, card and payout activity agrees with it, Reconciler adds that read-only.

See it on your own accounts

Upload CSV exports from any bank, card or ledger, or connect Mercury, Brex, Stripe, PayPal, Square, QuickBooks Online, Xero or NetSuite read-only. Transparent pricing, and a reconciliation in a fraction of the time. Reconciler matches both sides and explains every match. It never moves money. Decide for yourself.
