If nobody is currently getting your store's sales into your books, or you are still running QuickBooks Desktop, Webgility is a strong purchase and very few competitors still serve Desktop the way it does. Say yes and stop reading comparison pages. People arrive at "Webgility alternatives" from a different chair, though. The sales side already posts fine. What will not tie out is the bank: an ACH batch, a wire, a transfer between two of your own accounts, a corporate card statement, payroll, a vendor bill, a Stripe payout that lands three days late and net of fees. None of those touched a sales channel, so a channel-shaped tool never sees them. Webgility is the better fit when the sales side is the problem: orders are being hand-keyed, inventory drifts between channels, or you are on QuickBooks Desktop and most modern tools will not talk to it. The Desktop support in particular is genuinely hard to replace.

Does Webgility do bank reconciliation?
Not in the accounting sense. Webgility reconciles what it posted against the channel it came from, and its Complete tiers add a human-verified monthly close it calls a Monthly Reconciliation Guarantee. What it does not do is read a full bank statement and prove it agrees with the ledger, because most of that statement never touched a sales channel: ACH batches, wires, transfers between your own accounts, card spend, payroll and vendor bills. That whole-statement job is what a reconciliation tool does.
Does Webgility work with QuickBooks Desktop?

Can I use Webgility and a reconciliation tool together?
Yes, and for most multi-channel sellers that is the right shape. Webgility gets the store activity into the ledger accurately and keeps inventory in step. A reconciliation tool then proves that what the ledger now says actually agrees with the bank, including everything that never came from a sales channel. They touch different data and neither replaces the other, which is why plenty of finance teams run one of each.
Is Webgility read-only, or does it change my books?
It writes. Webgility posts continuously into QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop or Xero, and it also pushes inventory levels and pricing back out to your sales channels.
