A Stripe Xero integration costs $0 a month if you only need Stripe to collect payment on invoices you send from Xero, and $52 to $600 a month if you need every Stripe charge, refund, fee and payout posted into Xero by a sync app. Checked on October 14, 2026, Xero's own Stripe app has no setup or monthly fee and charges US cards 2.9% plus 30 cents per payment. Synder, the main paid sync app that names Xero on every plan, runs from $65 a month month to month or $52 billed yearly for 500 transactions.
The real decision is not which app is cheapest. It is whether your Stripe revenue starts in Xero (you invoice, the customer pays by card) or starts in Stripe (subscriptions, Checkout, Payment Links), because the free option only really covers the first. We read each vendor's own pricing page or Xero App Store listing on October 14, 2026, and list only what they publish.
How much does a Stripe Xero integration cost?
Expect $0 in app fees for Xero's native Stripe connection, $52 to $129 a month for a sync app at a few hundred to a thousand Stripe transactions, and $240 to $600 a month at 10,000 or more. On top of that you pay Xero itself, $27 to $97 a month on the US plans, and Stripe's processing fees, which no integration removes.
| Option | Who builds it | Published price, checked October 14, 2026 | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stripe app in the Xero App Store | Xero and Stripe | No setup or monthly fee; 2.9% + $0.30 per domestic card charge, 4.4% + $0.30 for international cards plus 1% if currency is converted | Card payments on invoices sent from Xero, auto pay on repeat invoices, payments flowing through a Stripe bank feed |
| Synder | Synder | Basic $65 a month ($52 billed yearly) for 500 transactions; Essential from $129 ($103) for 1,000; Pro from $299 ($240) for 10,000; Pro Max from $599 ($480) for 20,000; Premium quoted | Every Stripe sale, refund, fee and payout synced to Xero, per transaction or as a daily summary |
| Zapier | Zapier | Professional from $19.99 a month billed yearly, $29.99 monthly, 750 tasks (checked October 2, 2026) | Whatever Zaps you build; one task per action step |
| A2X | A2X | From $29 a month per channel, but Stripe is not one of its listed channels | Amazon, Shopify, eBay, Etsy, Walmart, TikTok Shop and PayPal |
| Link My Books | Link My Books | No USD price on the page we loaded; its integrations menu lists Square but not Stripe | A May 2026 post on its own blog says it summarizes Stripe settlements for Xero, so ask before you buy |
Dext Commerce, the old Commerce Sync, also lists Stripe as a source and Xero as a destination, but its pricing page would not load for us, so we left it out rather than quote a third-party figure.
Does Stripe integrate with Xero?
Yes. Xero lists Stripe in its US App Store as a payment service you connect from inside Xero, with no setup or monthly fee. Once connected, customers can pay Xero invoices by card, repeat invoices can be charged automatically, and the payments come through a Stripe bank feed you reconcile in Xero. You pay Stripe's normal card fees on each payment.
Two things on that listing are worth reading before you rely on it. It describes payments on invoices sent from Xero, and it does not say it brings in Stripe Billing subscriptions, Checkout sessions or Payment Links you create in Stripe itself. And the app's rating on the US listing was 2.47 out of 5 from 383 reviews when we checked, with recent reviews mostly about payout holds rather than the accounting side.
Is the Xero Stripe integration free?
The connection is free; the payments are not. Xero charges no setup or monthly fee for the Stripe app, and its US fee page lists 2.9% plus 30 cents for a domestic card and 4.4% plus 30 cents for an international card, plus 1% when currency is converted. Refunds do not return the original processing fee. You still need a paid Xero plan: Early is $27 a month, Growing $59 and Established $97 at list price.
Xero is running an 80% discount for the first three months on new US subscriptions as we write this. It applies to the base plan only, not to add-ons or payment fees, so it does not change any of the numbers in the tables below after month three.
What does a Stripe to Xero sync cost at 500, 1,000 and 5,000 transactions a month?
Volume sets the bill once you leave the native connection. A Stripe "transaction" for a sync app is normally each charge, refund and payout, and Synder's included figures count synced transactions. Here is the cheapest published plan that covers each volume, month to month, with the yearly price in brackets.
| Option | 500 a month | 1,000 a month | 5,000 a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xero's Stripe app (invoice payments only) | $0 app fee | $0 app fee | $0 app fee |
| Synder | $65 ($52) | From $129 ($103) | From $299 ($240) |
| Zapier Professional | $29.99 ($19.99), if one task per charge | Higher task tier, priced by Zapier's slider | Higher task tier, priced by Zapier's slider |
| Xero plan you also pay for | $27 to $97 | $27 to $97 | $27 to $97 |
Synder's Essential plan includes 1,000 synced transactions and caps sales volume at 3,000 a month, so 5,000 a month lands on Pro. Its Essential, Pro and Pro Max prices are all "from" figures that the page says are tailored to your monthly volume, so ask for a written quote at your real number. Zapier is cheap at low volume and hard to forecast at high volume, because a Zap that creates a contact, an invoice and a payment uses three tasks per Stripe charge.
Which Stripe Xero setup fits your business?
It depends on where the revenue starts and how many Stripe transactions you run. By situation:
- You invoice clients from Xero and some pay by card. Use Xero's own Stripe app. Paying a sync app here buys very little, because the invoice already exists in Xero and the payment lands against it.
- You sell subscriptions or one-off charges in Stripe and need revenue, fees and refunds in Xero. You need a sync app. Synder names Xero on every plan and offers both per-transaction and daily summary sync, so at a few thousand small charges a month choose summary and keep Xero fast.
- Stripe plus Shopify, Amazon or PayPal into one Xero file. A2X and Link My Books are built for store channels; A2X does not list Stripe at all, so check the channel list before you pay.
- The sync is in place, but the Stripe clearing account never nets to zero. A second sync app will not fix that. You need the payout, the bank deposit and the Xero entry matched, which is a reconciliation job, not a sync job.
Does a Stripe Xero integration reconcile payouts to the bank?
Only in part. Xero's Stripe bank feed and sync apps record what Stripe reported and group it into the payout that should match your bank deposit. None of them proves the deposit arrived, that the clearing account nets to zero, or that every refund, dispute and fee adjustment made it into Xero. That check is still a month-end job for someone.
It breaks in predictable places. A dispute is debited from a later payout than the charge it reverses. A refund issued on the 2nd belongs to last month's revenue but this month's payout. Stripe holds part of a payout as a reserve, then releases it weeks later. A failed subscription renewal that a customer retries three days later shows up as two events, one of them a decline that never reaches the bank. If renewals failing is the bigger leak in your Stripe account, recovering failed subscription payments is its own job, and worth fixing before you tune the books. Each of the others leaves a small residue in Xero, and after two quarters nobody can explain the $1,870 sitting in the Stripe clearing account.
That tie-out is what Stripe payout reconciliation software does, and it sits next to whichever sync you pick rather than replacing it. Reconciler connects Stripe and Xero with read-only access, takes your bank statement as a CSV (or connects Mercury and Brex read-only), and matches payout to deposit to Xero entry line by line, with a plain English reason under every match and every exception. It never posts to Xero, so it cannot fight with Synder, Xero's own feed or a Zap. With Xero connected it is $89 a month billed yearly on Growth, or $179 month to month, for up to 25,000 transactions a month. The setup details are on the Xero reconciliation page.
Questions to ask before you pay for a Stripe to Xero app
Run any trial against your busiest real month, not a quiet one, and get these answered in writing first:
- Does it bring in Stripe Billing, Checkout and Payment Links, or only invoice payments? This is the question that separates the free option from the paid ones.
- What counts as a transaction? Charges, refunds, payouts, fees and disputes may each count. A quote at 1,000 can turn into 1,400 once payouts and refunds are added.
- What happens at the limit? If syncing pauses in the last week of the month, that is a close problem, not a billing one.
- Where does a lost dispute land in Xero? Ask the vendor to show you, with the payout it was deducted from.
- Can it run two Stripe accounts into one Xero organization? Many SaaS companies keep one for subscriptions and one for services.
- How will I know the clearing account is right at month end? If the honest answer is "check it by hand", budget for that time or for a tool that does it.
If your ledger is QuickBooks rather than Xero, the market looks different, with a free Intuit connector and more paid apps; we priced eight of them in Stripe QuickBooks integration pricing. Prices in this category change often, so re-check any figure here on the vendor's own page before you buy. If the sync already runs and the problem is proving it is right, see Reconciler's plans and run matching on your own Stripe payouts the same day.
